- Description
- This metamorphic rock contains a wide array of minerals. When looking at the hand sample, there are visible sheet silicates that appear to be muscovite. Under a thin section, there appears to be quartz, plagioclase feldspar, and red minerals that are possibly pyroxenes. The high birefringence minerals within the thin section seem to be muscovites. When looking at the side of the hand sample, there is schistosity, suggesting that this rock is a muscovite schist.
