Location: This sample was taken from Chestnut Hill in Gollub Park, Easton PA, at N40.72116, W075.18967. The area is underlain by Precambrian metamorphic rock dating over a billion years old.
Hand Sample: This hand sample is extensively weathered on the outside, and is a pale yellow-tan color. Minerals identifiable in thin section are few in number. These identifiable minerals are quartz, plagioclase feldspar, potassium feldspar, and hornblende. The majority of visible grains are quartz. At the top of the sample photo one can see a layer of coarse grains. Other than this layer, the sample is fine grained. Compositional banding is present, but not extensive. - Creator
