The central panel of this 19 inch tall tempera and gold on wood triptych (three hinged panel altar) depicts the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. On view in the European Paintings Gallery at the “Met,” this piece was created by Francesco Granacci in the early 16th century for an Italian family’s private devotional services.
