In 1951, President Hutchison 'presented the Presbyterian College Engineering Plan, a 3-2 liberal arts and engineering proposal. A student would spend three years at a liberal arts college and two years in an engineering program a Lafayette. He would then receive an A.B. from his original college and a B.S. in the appropriate program from Lafayette.
