Dark Chocolate: Cocao's influence in West Africa

Chocolate has a long and controversial history throughout its rise to becoming the global stimulant it is today. While it has many aspects that can be discussed in detail when wanting to grasp the full scope of its effect on the world, the scope would be very large. My exhibit focuses on one aspect of this journey, specifically a look into the issues, origins, and portrayal of chocolate production in Ghana and Ivory Coast.

The specific focus of my exhibit includes the imperialist mindset and view that is portrayed in advertisements for chocolate, and issues surrounding child labor.

Over the course of the exhibit I provide analysis as to why some of these issues are happening, what is currently being done.
