Tea’s Global Market From the East to the West

Sir Thomas Lipton, by cutting out the middlemen of the market chain and with at the time unusual style of advertising was able to drastically expand the tea market and greatly profit from it, but it is important to consider how this market expansion and trade affected the exploitation of the cheap labor. What conditions did tea laborers in Sri Lanka had and what effect did Lipton’s advertisements in Britain had in general. One may ask, was Lipton a self made man or did he was just at the right time at the right place to overtake the production of tea in Sri Lanka and expand it's ways of advertising, by bringing a new approach to it and heavily relying on cheap work labor in Sri Lanka to sell "Lipton's" tea.
